When access to the world is at our fingertips so too are its challenges. We often become overburdened with all the news of suffering in the world we ceaselessly receive. We might experience compassion fatigue and feel at loss, unsure of what we can do or where we can focus our efforts when it may seem that there is so much suffering. Yet perhaps if we focus on the good and become one of those agents of hope and compassion, we can begin to overcome this.

indiGo volunteers is a diverse team of people who want to share their passion for volunteering by connecting anyone willing to spread love, joy and hope. All of this is done with the wisdom our core team have gathered from first hand experiences of being on the flip side of the voluntary sector themselves.

It’s not unusual to become passionately driven and motivated to do something. However, as there is such a vast array of volunteering organisations, it’s easy to become blinded by our passion and fall into the trap of paying extortionate fees to do good and overcome suffering.

Often organisations will charge eye-watering admin fees, already limiting our choices and disregarding those who have the goodness of will but not the means.

Alongside this, many opportunities to volunteer verge more towards voluntourism, whereby volunteers’ stays are too short-term to make any lasting impact or organisations are more concerned with gathering funds or making profits from those who volunteer.

What lies at the very heart of what we try to achieve at indiGO is to reduce barriers for those of you who wish to spread their compassion, whilst also ensuring your goodwill is not taken advantage of and your skills are put to their best use.

We do this by matching you to organisations we have personally vetted or volunteered with ourselves, whilst ensuring your unique skillset is placed where it’s really needed; all in the hope that you might make a lasting, meaningful impact on peoples’ lives whilst gaining much from it yourself.
