Bilingual Education For Central America (BECA)

BECA provides bilingual education to low income students in Central America

Where is it?

Schools are based at three sites in Honduras:
– Cofradia
– Cortes
– Vida Nueva
– Macuelizo

What will I be doing?

BECA’s focus is to provide bilingual education to low-income students. In order to do this you will begin by participating in an intensive 6-week teaching training program. Once you have completed this you will then be assigned to one of the following; an elementary classroom, a middle school classroom, or a resource teacher role.  Your general responsibilities could vary from lesson planning, monitoring recess, supporting your fellow teachers and creating a safe and productive classroom environment. Alternatively, you could be volunteering as a program administrator or summer camp counsellor. BECA will provide ongoing teacher support and professional development.

What impact would I have?

Honduras is a vibrant, beautiful country that unfortunately has been marked by endemic poverty, income inequality and a lack of quality educational and professional opportunities. Therefore, by becoming a member for the BECA family and dedicating your time to educating young Hondurans, you are equipping every child with the skills to go on to achieve their goals – an opportunity that is sadly not always provided to youths living in Honduras.
