Where is it?
Refugee Aid Serbia – The Workshop
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport
About the project
‘The Workshop’ is a dedicated education centre which provides educational and recreational activities to refugees from nearby camps five days a week. They developed ‘Survival English Classes’ that target the specific needs, vocabulary and high-priority English phrasing of the refugees/migrants currently in Belgrade, starting with health, clothing and asking for help. From there, they have expanded into maths, science and geography and much more, and our recreational workshops range from arts and crafts to music to cake decoration.
What will I be doing?
Teaching (e.g. English, German, French, Spanish, Maths) and/or organising creative workshops (e.g. art, music, photography).
What impact would I have?
You would help RAS provide informal education and recreational workshops to migrants and refugees in Belgrade. Their aim is to reduce the learning gap for our students, as well as to focus on their well-being, by taking them from the mundaneness of life in the camps and hopefully providing a stimulating environment for them to express themselves and learn vital skills.
Who would I be working with?
Volunteers from all around the world and refugees residing in Belgrade area.
