We are looking for a Fundraising Consultant to join the Indigo team.
Indigo Volunteers is a charity that recruits volunteers and connects them with humanitarian projects working in the European refugee crisis. We provide a straightforward, matchmaking service, placing people where they are needed most.
Through our own experience volunteering, we found that small grassroots organisations often do not have the time or resources to find volunteers that keep their projects running. Conversely, people who want to volunteer often don’t know where to start and find it difficult to identify a legitimate project where their talents are really needed. Our aim is to remove these hurdles and create the connections that enable charities to keep going and focus on their objectives.
We help partners find and manage volunteers
We help volunteers find the right project
We inspire and educate people about responsible volunteering
We share, connect and collaborate
We partner with more than 40 grassroots organisations in Bosnia & Herzegovina, France, Greece and Serbia.
Indigo Volunteers (IV) has recently developed a new strategic direction. This document defines this new strategic direction for IV based on an assessment of (1) IV’s operations (lessons learned, what works and what does not), (2) trends and approaches to promote responsible volunteering and volunteer/partner matchmaking and (3) priorities to achieve its mission.
To support implementation of the “Strategy”, IV is seeking the assistance of an experienced professional to develop and begin to implement a Fundraising Strategy for the purpose of diversifying IV’s donor base over the next five years.
Scope of the consultancy
The Fundraising Consultant is a short-term expert located remotely. The role of the consultant is to identify strategies and potential donor opportunities to support IV’s interventions, map potential funding instruments, map potentially interested organisations and make introductions to and/or secure new donors.
The Fundraising Consultant reports to the IV Fundraising Committee and has the support of the Marketing Manager. The duration of the contract is 3 months. The main scope of this consultancy will focus on:
mapping a wide range of development actors and relevant institutions.
identifying institutional funders appropriate for IV, including trusts, foundations, individuals and government agencies.
prioritising potential funding opportunities with private sector and private individuals, groups which until now have not been targeted, providing recommendations for next steps in approaching these sources of funding.
initiating meetings/discussions with and securing funding from potential new donors (if/where possible).
Deliverables
Design of fundraising strategy and five-year action plan.
Database of potential international and national donors (foundations, government agencies, business sector, high net worth individuals) prioritized according to the best possible match between the scope of IV activities and donor interests.
Database of potential business donors, i.e. major national and international companies, and their levels/types of CSR activities.
The final outputs are the property of Indigo Volunteers.
Skills required
Experience supporting small charity fundraising efforts
Familiarity with all types of donors – foundations, corporates, individuals
Familiarity with the refugee crisis and the relevant fundraising landscape (preferable)
Excellent research and analytical skills
Fluency in written and spoken English
Budget
This will be an output-based contract with a total budget of £2,500. There is the possibility of further work. Deliverables can be negotiated (at the time of agreement).
