I got to Goa, India, on the 22nd of February and in such a short space of time, I met some really incredible and inspiring people from the El Shaddai family and made really good friendships. I had the chance to explore too, becoming familiar with the local bus service and directing myself around by foot.
Most importantly, I visited several of the houses for the orphans, street children and children coming from economically underprivileged conditions which was such an eye opener. I was based at the school so also got involved with teaching the students maths, helping them with reading and also with the football sessions in the afternoon. It is so rewarding seeing how thankful the children are for my help.
They always manage to stay so positive whilst being in the worst of situations and are always so keen to learn new things which I find so inspiring. Every single one of them has so much potential and the donations go directly towards providing them all with a home, food, clothing, education, medication, shelter, and recreational facilities which gives them the opportunity to turn their life around for a better future.
I couldn’t recommend volunteering here enough. Every little helps and no matter what the amount, it is not wasted and makes a huge difference!
