Volunteer Recruitment Platforms

In order to make sure you can seamlessly transition away from the services that Indigo currently provide, we have created a list of the top thirteen providers of similar services online.

The jobs section of ReliefWeb is updated daily with volunteer, internship and paid job opportunities from humanitarian organisations and companies based all around the world.

Media Trust believes in the power to change the world through various media, and is therefore an excellent platform for any related roles such as sales, marketing or advertising.

(only UK-based charities can recruit through Media Trust)

The job postings on the Development Aid website have a truly international flavour; although the listings are strongly weighted in terms of permanent roles there are a number of voluntary roles on there.

Impact Pool mainly carries jobs from international organisations and at the last count had around two dozen voluntary roles.

VolunteerMatch is a site with a lazer focus on advertising volunteer opportunities and enabling smaller charities to find volunteers – although the banner on their site indicates they are soon to merge with Idealist (see #9), for now they list a number of voluntary roles.

This site provides a wide range of services and information about volunteering, with a predominantly UK focus.  It also has a job board, powered by Be Collective.

Omprakash specialises in volunteering abroad and features a number of roles around the world.  It is suitable for organisations seeking longer term partnerships as they have a thorough onboarding and appraisal process.

Reach is a global volunteering recruitment platform.  It specialises in finding experienced volunteers and project-based support.  In our experience you can find some very high quality developers on there.

Idealist is a site which connects volunteers with charities, recently incorporating VolunteerMatch (see #5).  Many of the jobs on the site have a global focus.

Handshake is a paid-for early-careers recruitment platform which also lists voluntary and internship roles.

Escape the City is a site aimed at people changing careers.  It has partnered with Reach Volunteering (see #8) to provide access to their voluntary roles for members.

Ethelon is a Greek platform (in Greek) for non-for-profit organisations who are looking for volunteers.  This is ideal for any of our Greek partners.

Third Sector is a publication for the charity and voluntary sector in the UK.  Traditionally it has been a go-to for charities and other not-for-profits to list their jobs, and it retains an online jobs board with a seperate section for voluntary roles of all descriptions.
